Prestack Seismic Workstation Interpretation for Geophysicists

A "Hands-on" 2-day Course

Presented by Mark Sun and Dr. Easton Wren

This course covers the importance of evaluating prestack data. It covers quality control issues and AVO detection and measurement issues. Gathers, including supergathers and Ostrander gathers will be explained and analyzed in real-time. Azimuthal gathers, anisotropy and vertical fracturing will be discussed.

AVO examples and pitfalls will be presented. Partial stacking, difference stacking and azimuthal stacking will be covered in this comprehensive course. AVO computation and visualization techniques will also be practiced.

Both theory and hands-on workstation problem solving will be offered in this course. In-house courses may be tailored to focus on specific issues, data sets or prospect areas.

The workstations used for this course will run the EarthWorks Exploration System. The intelligently-integrated, real time processing and 3D visualization capabilities of this workstation allows class participants to immediately see the results of their efforts while they interpret seismic data. Developments that make EarthWorks a prestack interpretation workstation enable the course to introduce advanced topics such as AVO analysis and seismic processing quality control. As such, geoscientists of any experience level will benefit from this course.

Prior workstation experience is not a prerequisite. At course completion, you will have a good understanding of what constitutes advanced prestack seismic interpretation and how to complete these tasks accurately and effectively.
