At Genetek Earth Research, we pride ourselves on continuously developing new useful software. This page shows some of the recent real-time developments in EarthWorks.

Not all developments are described here.  To see the most current developments, please contact us for an in-house presentation.

“Blindingly fast”, “screaming machine”, “thoroughly recommend” EarthWorks …

That is what our clients say about how our technology and services solve real world geoscience problems in a recent New Technology Magazine.  The article entitled “Geoscientists, Not Computer Scientists” describes how the EarthWorks Exploration System enables geoscientists to quickly evaluate the subsurface in much more than just a “pick, post and map” approach, and allows them to spend more time exploring.

Layer-based Time-Depth Conversion

EarthWorks now offers layer-based time-depth conversion as well as average gridded velocity models for time-depth conversion.  With layer-based conversion, users can adjust layer velocities and watch depth surfaces reshape in real-time.  Integrated well top data graphically shows you when well tops calibrate with the seismic depth surfaces.  This makes it easy to find areas of good fit and determine problem areas.

Real-time Layer-Based Time-Depth Conversion

Since EarthWorks tools are all live-linked, if a well doesn’t calibrate with velocity adjustments, you can either re-pick the log top (visualize the curves directly in 3D space and simply slide the formation top) or you can immediately re-pick your seismic reflectors to improve your depth conversion and well calibration.  EarthWorks allows you to interpret in depth space which significantly speeds prospect generation and improves play quality.  Working in depth brings your seismic analyses closer to the geological domain in which wells are drilled, resulting in increased exploration success.

Real-time Multicomponent Interpretation System

Load up your P-wave and shear wave data and seamlessly integrate and calibrate the multiple sets of seismic traces in real-time.  Poisson ratio is automatically revealed on-the-fly giving you extremely useful subsurface details.  Review your shear wave data directly overlaying your P-wave data to quickly determine anomalies.  Instantly evaluate AVO anomalies with gather analysis and partial stacking to provide support for your multicomponent anomalies.

With multicomponent acquisition and processing costs rapidly dropping, perhaps your company should consider getting a head start with this proven leading edge interpretation technology.

Real-Time AVO Modeling with Anisotropy Analysis

The animation shows how a geoscientist can review seismic gathers and then quickly evaluate a prestack gather model directly overlaying the stacked seismic data. Using sliders, the user can adjust Poisson ratios, offset or angle intervals, velocities, densities, frequency and phase- all in real-time.

This analysis window can be dragged over different areas of your project to see how the model agrees with the actual stacked and prestack seismic response.  AVO attributes can also be imaged and extracted in real-time, so that you can get useful qualitative and quantitative results during your normal seismic interpretation workflow.

Compute Sand Thickness Maps On-The-Fly

Using a real-time adjustable sand-shale line, you can visualize sand thickness and distribution in 3d space. EarthWorks integrates, computes, maps and visualizes sand thickness allowing you to accurately calibrate well curves for an entire prospect in real-time.

Instant Spectral Picking

Have you ever had to pick a horizon through a noisy portion of seismic data? We all have done it, perhaps by switching to manual picking and pushing the event through where we think it goes. With EarthWorks, you can easily filter a zone and then pick the filtered, noise reduced event in real-time with instant Spectral Picking

Simply drag out a spectral analysis zone and filter back until your horizon becomes coherent and then pick the locally filtered event. You can apply this technique with phase rotation and spectral enhancement, too. Imagine imaging the event with even better accuracy by picking on a filtered partial stack, all in real-time. Total time to obtain more accurate picking: a few seconds!

Instant Spectral Picking

Regional control for smoothing, deleting and copying horizons.  Use this tool to modify your picks from a map point of view. As usual, it's exceptionally fast and works for projects that contain both 2D and multiple 3D datasets. Regional control also lets you concentrate on visualizing 3D events in a specific, arbitrary zone.

Flash picking enables geoscientists to pick 3D events in 3d visualized space in real-time. Pick any seismic event and instantly watch the surface appear in 3d visualized space. See where it jumps legs, adjust the threshold values and voila, the image changes shape in real-time. Ready to move to the next event, simply click and the next event appears. It's fast and easy to use on small or large 3D surveys.

Spatial Correlation shows you where your misties are and indicates how you can solve them.  Correlations are imaged at every tie point and are updated in real-time as you adjust seismic data to make corrections. Visualize and solve bulk shift, phase and filter problems without resorting to black box approaches.

Use Spectral Correlation tools to easily correct misties without leaving EarthWorks.  Properly done, mistie solutions maintain the geophysical integrity of your datasets and prevent drilling seismic artifacts.
